FOCUS Why Gabriel Paletta could be the answer for Milan in defence
Since returning from a strong season at Atalanta, the defender has performed strongly in two straight friendlies, looking in good physical shape and potentially giving Vincenzo Montella a headscratcher in defence.
Now that Milan haven't conceded in two straight exhibition games, the Rossoneri haven't just benefitted from the Italo-Argentine's defending, they also need a veteran who can partner Alessio Romagnoli at centre-back. Though he cost what many though was an excessive 25 million last summer, the former Roma and Sampdoria man had a very promising first season, and is without a doubt one of the Rossoneri's best signings of the last few seasons.
With Critian Zapata and Rodrigo Ely injured and Gustavo Gomez still looking to integrate, Paletta is a strong candidate to play in the middle.
Even Vincenzo Montella has sided with the Italo-Argentine, asking Adriano Galliani to keep him, and refusing a very interested Atalanta's approaches.
