FOCUS: Balotelli, Alex top list of Milan players who are set to leave in June
First of all, in January there should be some news regarding new investor Bee Taechaubol.
Following that, an evaluation will be made of those players whose contracts will expire at the end of the season: this includes Christian Abbiati, Alessio Cerci, Antonio Nocerino, Riccardo Montolivo, Alex, Cristian Zapata, Philippe Mexes and Mario Balotelli (the latter will return to Anfield without an offer from the Rossoneri).
At the moment, only Montolivo is certain to stay, as he’s in talks with the club to renew for three more years.
Regarding the others, there are many options: Milan could find a new club for Nocerino or find an agreement to terminate his contract, while Abbiati could retire and become an executive. Cerci is not considered a priority, and will be signed to permanent deal only if Atletico will reduce his price tag, as well as for Balotelli.
The situation of the defenders is even more complicated: Mexes is admired by Berlusconi, who blocked his transfer to Fiorentina last summer. That said, the former Roman and Auxerre enforcer could leave as well as Zapata. Ex Chelsea and PSV man Alex could stay, but only if he reduces his salary.
