Focus: Pioli's Inter is Kondo, Eder, Jovetic's last-chance saloon| Emanuele Tramacere
Though he is as yet not officially Inter’s Coach, Stefano Pioli is set to bring a revolution to the San Siro.
It is certainly needed, the Crotone game providing further evidence as the players were booed on their way back to the changing room at half-time, the Ultras particularly angered by what they perceive as a lack of effort from Inter’s cast.
These factors, among others, could well be the opportunity for a few current extras to get back on stage. We begin with Geoffrey Kondogbia. Unceremoniously (but fairly) subbed off 27 minutes into the home game with Bologna by Frank De Boer, the Frenchman has since languished on the bench, though he could find space in Pioli’s teams, which always have a more defensive player present. Then again, Marseille want to bring the former Monaco man back to France, and seem willing to let Inter sell the 23-year-old man at a price no lower than the €32 or so million he was originally signed for.
Two more players who should get a chance are Eder and Stevan Jovetic, because Pioli has often favoured the 4-4-2, meaning that either could slot in alongside Mauro Icardi, and hopefully be more involved because of it. Eder is naturally a support striker, good news for the Italian international.
There is another player who may just dare to dream: Gabigol.
Left on the bench by De Boer, the Brazilian could now become the first alternative to Antonio Candreva, though he’ll need to catch up physically and tactically, something Miranda mentioned in a press conference today.
