FOCUS: Milan's Su-Ba-Ni attack is going places

AC Milan’s attack is really hitting top gear.

Coach Vincenzo Montella has taken steps to make his team play a high-tempo game, something we saw in the first half hour against Sassuolo, and in the recent friendly against Chiasso.

If he is able to do it, it’s because his Su-Ba-Ni trio has responded well to his coaching, contributing 75% of the Rossoneri’s 12 goals so far this season in league play.

M’Baye Niang is arguably the player who has made the attack his own: after a couple of seasons of questionable extracurricular pursuits, the former Caen man has netted two goals and provided three assists this season, and is developing nicely.

He gives the ball away less and tends to try the one-two, either with the striker to penetrate through the middle or with the full-back to gallop down the wing.

Far more careful in respecting Coach Montella’s directives, the Frenchman isn’t the only one to have responded to l’Aeroplanino, Carlos Bacca reacting to his benching against Sampdoria with the winner, which he scored as a second-half sub.

Suso, meanwhile, has proved that he deserves the starting spot, participating in the build-up and launching balls deep for his team-mates, and also scoring one ggoal and adding two assists.

There’s good news for Gianluca Lapadula, too, seeing as he may get a chance with Carlos Bacca returning from two qualifiers with Colombia.

Either way, Rossoneri fans have something to look forward to every weekend. That’s got to be something.
