Why Adem Ljajic could leave Inter
Adem Ljajic has, without a doubt, been one of Inter's most impactful players this season.
Following a difficult start to the season, where he was often benched by manager Roberto Mancini, the mercurial Serbian has morphed into a playmaker for Inter, and a heartbreaker for opponents.
Decisive against Bologna in another narrow 1-0 win in October, the 24-year-old has since gone on a romp, scoring three goals in all competitions (including two against Napoli, and the goal that provoked Maurizio Sarri's shameful tirade against Roberto Mancini).
It's never a bad moment to remind Roma fans that Walter Sabatini got rid of Ljajic... so he could keep Juan Iturbe, who has since gone on loan to Watford.
Yet if recent reports are to be credited, the Serbian could be returning to Roma, with Inter getting cold feet over his€11 million pricetag. He is on loan to Inter until the end of season, and the only member of the front line that hasn't been signed to a full-term contract.
Imagine that, Ljajic being rejected in favour of players in whom the club has invested more. What does he have to convince the footballing world that he's turned a corner?
"Io spero di rimanere all'Inter, ma è ancora presto per parlarne. Decideranno i dirigenti, a me farebbe piacere rimanere e spero di poterlo fare".“I hope I can stay, but it's early to talk about it. It's up to ownership to decide”.
