FOCUS How much have Milan saved up this summer?

While AC Milan wait for the Chinese Consortium to buy the club out, they are busy lightening their payload, and Jeremy Menez's recent departure for Bordeaux is just another step in the right direction.

In fact, this summer, the Diavolo has already offed more than €20 million's worth of salaries, as listed below.

    Menez €5m
    Alex €5m
    Balotelli €4,5m
    Mexes €3m
    Boateng €2m
    Abbiati €2m

    Total: €21,5m

There's more: Nigel De Jong left for LA Galaxy in January, a good move as AC Milan would have owed him 15m (gross) had he stayed until 2018. The Rossoneri are still saving a big sum despite the returns of the likes of Alessandro Matri, Suso, Gabriel Paletta and Gabriel, not to mention the improved contracts offered to Davide Calabria, Luca Antonelli and Christian Zapata.

Trouble is, this isn't enough to buy new players: the Rossoneri need the Chinese consortium to splash out in order to finance the arrivals of Leonel Vangioni, to name one transfer target. Since talks have stalled, Milan may need to sell either Carlos Bacca or Mattia De Sciglio in order to buy.

Hardly a comforting thought, that's for sure...
