Five big names around Europe looking for a January switch
The 2016-17 campaign has just begun, but there are already some players looking to get more game time somewhere else, completing a permanent or loan switch in the winter transfer window.
Let’s see who they are and how much their purchase could cost to potential buyers.
5. MARCELO BROZOVIC
The Croat is creating troubles in Inter’s dressing room and Frank De Boer understandably wants to get rid of the former Dynamo Zagreb man as soon as possible. Chelsea, Tottenham and Juventus have been linked with welcoming the player’s services. Brozovic, 23, has only two appearances with Inter this term (65 minutes) and the nerazzurri are more likely to sell him abroad rather than to a direct rival in Serie A. De Boer has not called him for the last three clashes due to lack of discipline. Keep a close eye also on Brozovic’s teammate Geoffrey Kondogbia: he’s another one of those who could leave the San Siro in January.
4. MEMPHIS DEPAY
The Dutchman is not the only player on Jose Mourinho’s list of departures at Manchester United. Memphis is in good company being also Morgan Schneiderlin, Marcos Rojo and Bastian Schweinsteinger on the Red Devils’ transfer list. Depay, 22, has only four appearances with Manchester United this term (88 minutes) and the Premier League giants can’t really expect to get all the €38 million they spent to sign him in summer 2015. The Special One is looking for an offer around € 20 million, but could also agree to sell him on loan with option to buy.
3. ALEIX VIDAL Linked with a move to Inter, the former Sevilla wingback is going to leave the Nou Camp in January as his relationship with manager Luis Enrique has collapsed. The latter is not going the 27-year-old the game time he expected at the beginning of the season, following the departure of Dani Alves. An offer between € 10- 15 million could be enough to take him from the Nou Camp as the LaLiga defending champions invested € 17 million to sign him from Sevilla in summer 2015. However, being linked with an Italian club, a loan move with option to buy always remains an option to be considered.
2. YAYA TOURE
Probably the biggest name in the list. Yaya agent’s poor relationship with Pep Guardiola has caused the player’s exclusion from the senior squad, at least until Dimirti Seluk says sorry to the former Barcelona coach. It may never happen, so we have to expect a departure of Yaya from the Etihad Stadium. After Roberto Mancini’s sacking, Inter are not among the clubs interested in welcoming the Ivorian’s services. A move to another Premier League club is more than likely and could also be a free one as the 33-year-old’s contract expires in June 2017.
1. HATEM BEN ARFA Five appearances and one goal in 242 minutes played with PSG this term. The French side’s boss Unai Emery has openly admitted that he doesn’t like the player’s game style, adding that Ben Arfa is also urged to improve his attitude during training sessions. If the Frenchman fails to do so before January, he could move out from the Parc des Princes just six months after completing a free transfer from OGC Nice. AC Milan are one of those clubs linked with welcoming the services of the 29-year-old winger.
