Fiorentina, Sousa on his future: ‘Club knows what I want’

As previously reported, Fiorentina and Paulo Sousa are not on such good terms as they used to be at the beginning of the season.

Wrongful winter transfer strategies and some inaccurate choices made by the Portuguese tactician have wrecked the relationship between the two parties, but most of Viola fans still hope the future of their current manager will be at the Franchi.

Talking ahead of Fiorentina’s clash against Chievo, Sousa stated: ‘I’ve always been honest about my tactical and structural views. I’ve also highlighted organization models of other clubs. I have my ideas and I’ve suggested what we could do alongside the club do develop together.”

“I can work on some points, but my priority is the work on the pitch right now. I won’t cover a role which is not mine.”

“We have to work on mentality. Even if we don’t win games, we can still create a winning mentality. Of course our placement will influence the next campaign. One has to be fresh at the beginning of the season, not to mention how important motivations and emotions are.”

“Having already qualified for the group stages is important. Facing elimination in the play off stage could discourage the team.”
