One year ago, Fiorentina attacking midfielder Josip Ilicic seemed intended to join Bologna, and when his transfer wasn’t carried out, the viola fans were quite upset, as until then the performances of the Slovenia international had not been so convincing; now, the former Palermo man is one of Paulo Sousa’s team’s cornerstones, especially after the double scored Wednesday night against his former team at the Barbera.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Tuscan club wants to extend until 2020 the contract of the 27-year-old, currently expiring in June 2018,and of course increase his salary.

Interviewed by Il Messaggero, the Bosnian-born player said: “I never has such a good start. I never sit on the bench, to get high performances I need to play. I want to remain with the viola for a long time and I want to win in Florence. My agent will talk with the club, I hope that something nice will happen”
