Fabio Capello claims he’s not interested in the Italy job

Italy FA Carlo Tavecchio is still looking for Antonio Conte’s successor as Italy boss.

Roberto Donadoni and Fabio Capello were believed to be the most plausible options to replace Conte, but Bologna’s president doesn’t want to lose his tactician at the end of the season, while Fabio Capello has played down rumors linking him with the Italy job.

“I am not interested in coaching Italy”, Capello, a former England and Russia national team coach, now football commentator for Fox Sport Italia, told Sky Sport Italia earlier today.

“I’ve never talked to Tavecchio, nor I am going to meet him”, Capello added contradicting Tavecchio himself who had previously revealed he would have met Capello and all the others available managers before summer.

At the moment there are no strong candidates to replace Conte as Italy boss once the former Juventus tactician will be appointed as Chelsea manager after EURO 2016.
