EXCLUSIVE Romano: What will it take for Juventus to sell Rugani?
It is a badly kept secret that his manager at the time, Maurizio Sarri, would like to convince him to move South to Naples, taking advantage of the fact that the 21-year-old is barely playing in Massimiliano Allegri’s team.
Though Arsenal were also reportedly after Rugani, the Azzurri actually made an offer for the Italy international during the last transfer window. As as outlined by calciomercato.com’s expert Fabrizio Romano, they offered €20 million for the Juventus defender's services.
The answer, as we can imagine, was no: the Serie A defending champions are counting on Rugani for the future.
Napoli aren't giving up easily, and are trying to get him on loan (along with Genoa, Sampdoria and Fiorentina).
Problem is, Juventus don't want to actively help out a potential Scudetto rival. What could swing the Vinovo club, however... is an offer over €30 million, which is laden with risk. After all, we're talking about a promising player here, not Alessandro Nesta.
Bottom line: Juventus are standing firm. Unless Napoli go all out.
