EXCLUSIVE Romano: A cruel summer for Roma
It’s been a bleak summer for Roma so far and it looks set to get worse in the coming weeks as more of their high-profile players are linked with a move away from the Italian capital. Miralem Pjanic will be confirmed as a Juventus player in the next few days but the real controversy surrounding his move to Turin, comes in a letter that the player wrote to the club explaining his desire to join the bianconeri. Roma dg Baldissoni decided to reveal the communication to the media to try to appease supporters who were pointing accusing fingers at the club for the sale of one of their best players.
PROPOSAL TO MANOLAS
There could be more bad news on the way for those fans with Greek defender Kostas Manolas now being heavily linked with a move to either Manchester United or Chelsea. After losing Pjanic however, the giallorossi are desperate to keep hold of their 24-year-old and look set to enter into negotiations with the player to try to convince him to remain at the club by offering him a lucrative new deal.
NAINGGOLAN
Then of course, there’s the case of Radja Nainggolan and the mystery surrounding his possible move to Chelsea. The truth is that Roma has no intention of selling him and the West London club’s initial advances of €29-30 million will not be accepted. With the sale of Pjanic already confirmed, the club will fight tooth and nail to keep the Belgian international in the Eternal City, but if the Premier League club return with an offer of €40 million and with new boss Antonio Conte’s seemingly endless desire to have the 28-year-old in his squad next season, it could still end up being a cruel summer for the giallorossi.
