EXCLUSIVE ROMANO: Juve, a season of observation on Dahoud
Juventus continue to scour Europe for some of the best young talent around and one name that is right there at the top of the list is Borussia Moenchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud.
A YEAR OF SCOUTING:
The Syrian born German international may only be 20 years old but already he has some of Europe’s heavyweight clubs showing an interest. Juventus has already put in place a season of intense scrutiny on the player before submitting a final report to both Marotta and Paratici as to whether he warrants the investment to bring him to Turin. The bianconeri were close to signing him this summer but felt he was not yet ready to take the next step in his career.
COMPETITION & CONTRACT:
So Juve wants to be convinced by Dahoud this season but doesn’t want to get involved in a bidding war to get their man. The player’s current value is worth around €12-13 million and both Liverpool and Manchester City, as well as Bayer Leverkusen are also showing strong interest which could trigger an escalation in his market value. Dahoud’s current contract expires in 2018 and with reports already circulating that he does not intend to renew beyond this, he could be an opportunity to good to miss. As Borussia Moenchengladbach tries to convince him to stay, the bianconeri will decide in the coming months whether to pounce.
