EXCLUSIVE ROMANO: Milan, Tah for the defence. Montella freezes out Pelle
New Milan, new manoeuvres as Vincenzo Montella starts work at the club. Montella loves to work with young players, quick players who have speed of thought and high quality. The new Milan boss needs improvement in various roles to coincide with the captures of Vangioni and Lapadula.
A JEWEL FOR THE DEFENCE
Montella wants a top-class defender to play alongside his beloved Romagnoli. The idea of Medhi Benatia is now fading after the Moroccan international nailed his colours to the Juve mast. Now the focus of attention switches to Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen, who’s proved that he is the right player at the right level for Montella. Milan scouts have given positive feedback about the 20-year-old but negotiations with the German club will be difficult. The alternatives remain Lindelof of Benfica and Musacchio of Villarreal.
BETWEEN PJACA AND PELLE
Before the arrival of Lapadula, Milan had thought seriously about Graziano Pelle. They still do think about the Southampton frontman but with similar characteristics to that of Lapadula, he may no longer be the perfect fit for the rossoneri. Croatian midfielder Marko Pjaca is also heavily on the Milan radar, but they will have to fight off the attentions of Napoli and Juventus if they are to get their man.
