EXCLUSIVE ROMANO: Khedira, Juve reaping the rewards of another free-transfer. On a renewal...
After Paul Pogba’s summer departure, the form of German midfielder Sami Khedira has been vital to Juventus during the opening weeks of the new campaign. Arriving on a free-transfer from Real Madrid in 2015, the 29-year-old German has convinced bianconeri bosses to start negotiations over a contract extension in Turin.
Khedira has a current deal at the J Stadium until 2019 so there is no hurry to get the documentation signed but what the bianconeri are considering is a new agreement linked to appearances, which will extend the player’s stay at the club until 2020. His current salary is €4 million a season and there is time to discuss these revised options at the right time. One thing is certain at the moment, a fit and in-form Khedira is the rock at the heart of the champions’ midfield and he’s a player the Old Lady can ill afford to be without.
