EXCLUSIVE Renzo Ulivieri explains why Cuadrado will return to Chelsea

Former Serie A coach Renzo Ulivieri has exclusively talked to calciomercato.com to share his thoughts on the future of Chelsea loanee Juan Cuadrado.

“I am not an expert of transfer market, but I am pretty sure Cuadrado will be back to Chelsea. Not due to technical reasons, because he has proved he can be a very important player. However, refusing to warm up before being thrown in against Fiorentina is something that the Old Lady does not usually allow.”

“When one player is asked to warm up and he doesn’t do it, that’s clearly an insubordination. There could be lot of reasons behind: from the frustration of sitting in the bench all game long, to not be willing to enter against your former team.”

“Truth is, players are pro and that’s how they have to behave. I believe that the relationship between players and manager can be a democratic one during the week, but when Sunday comes democracy ends to leave space to dictatorship.”

“We all know that taking decision under a dictatorship could be much faster than in democracy, but during the 90 minutes each choice must be pondered as well as taken very fast.

“Juventus are one of those clubs which do not tolerate this kind of behaviour. At the time of Boniperti the club would have not accept Cuadrado’s refusal.”

“I still believe that basic rules of a human relationship must be respected. Men usually come before rules, but some other times it works the other way around.”
