EXCLUSIVE: Milan join Juve in the race for Marchetti

As calciomercato.com understands Milan have joined Serie A title holders Juventus in the race for Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti.

The former Cagliari man’s agreement with the club expires next June, but the Biancoazzurri might decide not to renew the 32-year-old contract, as a meeting with the player’s agent Beppe Bozzo is still not on Igli Tare’s agenda.

Although Gianluigi Donnarumma has proved to be an extremely reliable goalkeeper, he is still considered too young to take all the responsibilities as the team’s senior goalkeeper, while former Real Madrid man Diego Lopez is ruled out for undetermined time due to an injury.

For these reasons, Milan could sign Marchetti from next summer as a free agent.
As previously reported, Juventus  have also pounced on the player as the Bianconeri are working on the sale of former Fiorentina shot-stopper Neto, who has also joined the Stadium as a free agent last summer.

In case the Black and Whites will manage to sell the Brazilian goalkeeper, they’ll make a bid for Marchetti in the January transfer window.
