EXCLUSIVE: Man City to make offer for Lichtsteiner if Zabaleta departs

Stephan Lichtsteiner could leave Juventus in the summer. The Swiss defender has not taken the arrival of Dani Alves very well and is thinking about his future at the J Stadium. The Serie A giants met the player’s agent and brother Marco to know Lichtsteiner’s plans for the future, but the player has informed his club that he wants to take time before making a final decision.

Juventus expect an answer before the 6th of July, which is the date when the new season will officially begin. The club are not going to put Lichtsteiner up for sale, but their position might change if the player asks to leave the club.

Lichtsteiner, 32, is under contract with the bianconeri until 2017 (with an option to extend for one more season) and this summer would be the last one Juve can use to monetize the Switzerland International exit.

Wolfsburg and Shalke 04 have sounded out Juventus about Lichtsteiner’s availability, but the player sees the two Bundesliga side as a step back in his career and would prefer to join a club as big as Juventus.

Manchester City is the answer. Pep Guardiola will see Pablo Zabaleta leaving the Etihad Stadium in the next few days (destination AS Roma) and, given his international experience, Lichtsteiner would be the perfect replacement for the Argentinean full-back.

If Lichtsteiner decides to leave, he would become available on the market for € 10 million.
