EXCLUSIVE Inter to splash out on a full-back in January
As Frank De Boer recently remarked in a press conference, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Neither will Inter, seeing as Cristian Ansaldi, as promising as he was with Genoa, has spent too long on the treatment table over the last three seasons.
According to our It appears that Inter will be investing in January in their defence, something that director of sport Piero Ausilio confirmed when he attempted to snag Stephan Lichtsteiner at the death in the transfer window.
The addition of decent full-backs is a particular concern, seeing as Danilo D’Ambrosio and Yuto Nagatomo have neither the courage or, more often, the accuracy to really make a difference.
Though he doesn’t move around a lot, striker Mauro Icardi has so far proved that he thrives off crosses.
In that light, letting Federico DiMarco go on loan to Empoli was short-sighted. Not only is Manuel Pasqual ahead of him in the pecking order anyway, but it’s also not as if the youngster is worse than Nagatomo. The star of Italy’s Under-21 Euros - and scorer of three goals - would have also counted as an academy product in the UEFA list.
