Ex-Viola star Cuadrado not a part of Allegri's plans, Juve buyout unlikely
Eleven months after leaving Fiorentina for Chelsea, Juan Cuadrado is back on the pitch with the Viola, though he won't be wearing the Giglio badge himself.
The Peruvian became a star at the Artemio Franchi, convincing Chelsea to dish out 30 million to acquire his services exactly one year ago. That operation hasn't exactly gone to plan, with the 27-year-old being loaned to Juventus with option to buy.
As if facing his old team (and bitter Juventus rival) Fiorentina wasn't bad enough, Cuadrado may well be braving the boos from the bench, with recent tweaks by Coach Max Allegri leaving the Peruvian out. The Livornese coach is likely to opt for a 3-5-2 again, and believes Stefan Lichsteiner offers more of an all-round package on the right.
Having skipped a number of recent games (including Juventus' trips to Sevilla and Rome), Tuttosport believe that the former Udinese youth doesn't really fit into Allegri's plans, and that Juventus look unlikely to pay Chelsea the minimum €20 million they'll need (Chelsea paid €34 million) to bring him to the Juventus Stadium on a permanent basis, unless he really steps up his game.
There is no doubt that management appreciates how talented he is. But if he doesn't show something more, it's hard to envisage seeing Giuseppe Marotta spend €20 million on him.
