EURO 2016: Italy National team updates ahead of Sweden clash

Good news for Antonio Conte who is working alongside his lads at Montpellier’s training centre ahead of the second game of the group stage scheduled for Friday at 3pm (Italy time). Graziano Pellé did not take part to yesterday’s training due to a problem to the ring finger of his left hand.

The Southampton striker has joined his teammates during today’s training session and will be eligible to play the next game against the Swedish squad.

Viktor Kassai will referee the game. He won the best referee in the world award back in 2011 and was the referee of EURO 2016’s debut game between France and Romania.

Antonio Candreva and Alessandro Florenzi have talked to journalists during a press conference held in Montpellier.

“Buffon, Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini are reference points to us. We follow them, they are important and they give us wise advices”, said Candreva.

“We are not qualified yet, so we can’t afford thinking about our placement in the group stage. That would be wrong. We know what happened during the World Cup two years ago. We won the first game and we lost the following two.”

“We have to make fee do the talking”, Florenzi added.

“All players on the bench watched the last game standing. When Vertonghen pushed Oriali, Insigne and I went against him even if we are as tall as his leg, we wanted to be respected.”

“Everyone entered the pitch when Pellé scored the second goal. The referee could have booked all of us. I feel comfortable in every position I play in midfield. I can attack and defend I am not only able to play down the flank.”
