Caner Erkin’s time at Inter will not be fondly remembered; after being purchased in the summer from Fenerbahce, the 27-year-old has gone back to his homeland on-loan at Besiktas. His experience in Italy has left a bitter taste in his mouth however and he told Cumhuriyet that; “Inter followed me for two years and I finally got my chance this summer. Then Mancini left and de Boer came in and I believe he deliberately left me out of training with the rest of the group. I don’t really know the reason and he didn’t give me an explanation. Probably it was because I was Turkish and came from a different environment, I don’t really know”.  

He continued by explaining that; “I wasn’t a good situation but I believe it was my destiny to come to Besiktas and I’m very happy here. Even Ausilio and Thohir could not understand the situation; I’d only just arrived at the club. They have tried to explain the situation but the only thing they have said is that it was the decision of the coach”.
