England: Mancini hotly tipped to succeed Allardyce
England are looking for a new coach of course after the controversial departure of Sam Allardyce last week. Latest odds from the bookmakers suggest that former Manchester City and Inter boss Roberto Mancini could be the surprise name to fill the vacancy.
The 51-year-old is currently installed as second favourite to land the role, behind former Manchester United captain and up until the summer, manager of Hull City, Steve Bruce. Mancini left Inter by mutual consent in the summer after disagreements over the club’s transfer policies, he has made no secret of the fact that he would like to return to the Premier League following his successful spell at Manchester City.
He was also one of the favourites to succeed Antonio Conte as Head Coach of the Italian national team before Giampiero Ventura finally got the job. Now he is in the running to take over what many people believe, is one of the hardest jobs in football.
