Calciomercato exclusive: 'Inter in Holland for Mertens'. And on Van Wolfswinkel...
Calciomercato.com exclusively interviewed Utrecht's sporting director Frank Booy. The Dutch club has put many players on the market: Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, Dries Mertens, Michael Vorm and Jacob Lensky.
Mister Booy, the summer is near. Will Van Wolfswinkel be staying at Utrecht?
Ricky is happy here and we are happy with him. But we also know that he wants to improve his career. He deserves it, he's a strong striker. We are open to all solutions and his agent told us about an interest from the Premier League. I think he could go to England eventually.
Not to Italy? Napoli...
Van Wolfswinkel admires Serie A. I can't deny that some Italian clubs are following him, but we haven't had any contact with them so far...
And what about Mertens?
Inter's representatives have come to Holland to see the player during the match against PSV. But he played his worst match of the season and Inter stopped the negotiation. At the moment Lokomotiv Moscow, Anderlecht and Ajax are interested in him. He's a very creative player.
The goalkeeper Vorm was impressing in Europa League ...
Vorm is on the market. He has just one year of contract and already told us that he wants to go abroad. He's the second Holland keeper and he had a very good season. There are three Italian clubs interested in him (one of them is Genoa), but also from Spain.
Let's talk about Lensky. Was he close to Genoa last January?
It was just a market rumor. His agent told us something, but we had no contact with the club. Lensky is a young talent with a great future.
