According to the Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport the Chelsea legend Didier Drogba could join the Serie A relegations candidates Bologna in the January transfer window.

The 37 year old is the focal point of Montreal Impact having hit the target 12 times in just as many matches. His last goal during the Canadian’s  3-0 victory at the expenses of Sebastian Giovinco’s Toronto FC allowed Montreal Impact to access the MLS quarterfinals.

Joe Saputo, who is the owner of both Bologna and Montreal Impact is reported to be considering bringing the former Galatasaray at the Stadio Dall’Ara on a three months loan until March (when the MLS will begin) or, alternatively, from next May.

Drogba has still two years left on his contract worth around € 3 million a year with the MLS side, but the former Chelsea ace’s wage could be easily covered by Saputo.Trouble is, will the Ivory Coast International be willing to join a relegation candidate side after having lifted four domestic trophies in England and one in Turkey throughout his career?

In the meanwhile the Italian-American President is chasing the likes of José Mauri, Antonio Nocerino, Suso Keisuke Honda and M’Baye Niang who could also join Bologna from AC Milan in January.
