Donadoni and Prandelli options if Rossi walks plank

With their 1-0 home defeat to Palermo on Sunday, Bologna remain rooted at the bottom of the Serie A table, having lost seven out of their eight games and four on the trot.

This could prompt the Felsinei to make a change at manager. As the Corriere della Sera writes, Bologna have contacted two former Italian national coaches in Roberto Donadoni and Cesare Prandelli in case Delio Rossi has to walk the plank.

Of the two options, Donadoni looks the more realistic. Beyond Napoli and the Azzurri, his CV is chock-full of mid-level teams made relevant by his coaching. This includes Parma, who after reaching the heady heights of sixth place in 2013-2014 unfortunately went down the following year, though the club's financial mismanagement contributed far more to that than anything else.

Prandelli has just come off a gruelling four-year stint with the national side, which ended ignominously last summer in the Brazilian heat. This is arguably too early for him, though Joe Tacopina's will to invest could swing things.

Other names in the rumour mill include Francesco Guidolin, Filippo Inzaghi and Eugenio Corini. The former is easily the pick of the bunch, having done well at every club he's coached and even taken Bologna to within three points of Champions League football in 2001-2002.
