Does anybody still want former Milan prodigy Saponara?

August 17th is a key date in Milan's summer transfer window, and not just because (sigh) Jose Sosa is close to joining.

This day is also the famous 'deadline' which agent Marcello Carli set for the eventual departure of client Riccardo Saponara. The former Milan talent had an up-and-down season at Empoli last year, beginning very strongly before petering out in the second half.

Though Sassuolo have shown an interest, there is nowhere near the attention Saponara was getting around Christmas, when our own Fabrizio Romano reported that Juventus (and many other clubs besides) were very taken with the idea of signing their rival's former pupil.

Juve did meet the Tuscans in May (read Fabrizio's piece here), but don't seem to have gone anywhere.

At this stage, nobody seems to have made that big offer Empoli were expecting (they want at least €15 million to begin negotiations).

Can the 24-year-old, who netted 12 goals over his last two Serie A seasons, bounce back this year?
