De Rossi: Roma or the USA, no to Juventus
This morning’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport confirms what we at Calciomercato.com declared yesterday, that Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has rejected a move to join Juventus. The 33-year-old is out of contract in the Italian capital next summer but his impressive form in recent weeks, which has helped the giallorossi to cement second place in the Serie A standings, has persuaded club officials to consider giving him a 12 month extension.
Just like teammate Francesco Totti, De Rossi has been a one-club man coming through the youth ranks at his hometown club to become an idol of the supporters. Reports earlier this year suggested that the Italian international was set to head to the States next season to join the MLS but now it seems he will remain in the peninsula for a little while longer. Juventus are still searching for more midfield cover after the departure of Paul Pogba but this audacious move for De Rossi looks to have ultimately been unsuccessful.
