De Laurentiis: 'Napoli is the most strengthened team in Europe'

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis sounds like he's very happy with his team's transfer dealings.

“This transfer window? The players alone have cost over €115 million, with another 15m in easily reachable bonuses," he told Radio Kiss Kiss today, "It's cost us a total of 140-150m, seeing as we've had to renew many players' contracts, amounting to another 20m”.

“We're the team that has strengthened the most in Europe. We've provided some potentially explosive players to a teacher like Sarri. We've strengthened in defence, but we were already good, so much so that Chelsea had offerd first €30, then 40, then 50 million for Koulibaly”.

The owner also dropped a big hint about Manolo Gabbiadini... but especially Lorenzo Insigne.

“We're explosive in attack, too. Gabbiadini is unsellable because he's in sync with our Coach, we think Sarri will get the best out of Gabbiadini. It's obvious that, like Insigne, he shouldn't get down if he plays well, because winning is what matters”.

Is this a hint that Dries Mertens is ahead of Insigne in the pecking order?

Anyway, ADL continued by speaking of Arkadiusz Milik: “Why do I need to compare him to Higuain? Higuain was Higuain, and all the team played for him. Now that Milik is here, the entire team will play for him”.

Finally, Napoli's president spoke of Edinson Cavani: "I called PSG and asked if it was true that he wanted to leave Paris. They answered that there was no way, that he was considered to be a key element there... and I told them I didn't like retreads".
