De Boer: " A possibility for Gabigol; Juve win was the best of my career"
After his clubs euphoric victory against Juventus on Sunday, Inter coach Frank de Boer has been speaking ahead of his side’s new challenge away at Empoli on Wednesday.
He was asked first if he would change the module of play after Banega’s dismissal on Sunday. He replied; “I won’t change the system of play, just the players but I want to see the same intensity as we showed against Juve. For me it’s important not to have any fear, we have a great squad and now it’s time for them to demonstrate this”.
ON WHETHER GABIGOL WOULD BE IN THE SQUAD – “He’s done two or three training sessions and yesterday he joined the rest of the group for the first time and I have to say he did very well. We’ll see what happens today but I believe there is a chance he could be selected”.
ON BROZOVIC – “He must understand what his role is within the team. Once you know this for me it’s not a problem. Players must be aware that they ae not bigger than the club and at the moment he has done things that I cannot accept”.
ON HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS PLAYERS – “I want to treat everyone in the same way as I’m an honest man. I treat everyone with respect and if this is not reciprocated it can cause problems. My doors are always open for my staff to come and talk with me”.
ON THE WIN AGAINST JUVENTUS – “We know we have a strong team but we must try to always prove this in both the matches and in training. This is vitally important for me; hard work always pays off however talented you are. The win against Juve counts for nothing if we don’t win our next match. On a personal level, I think it was the biggest win of my managerial career”.
ON ICARDI – “A captain must always lead by example both on and off the field. This is what I ask for and I’m happy now that Icardi is carrying out this role”.
