Confirmed: Napoli phoned Palermo over Macedonian goalmachine Nestorovski

Despite Palermo’s repeated denials, it now seems clear that Napoli are very much interested in striker Ilija Nestorovski.

Italian State broadcaster Rai (through ILovePalermoCalcio) can confirm that the Partenopei actually called Palermo in order to scout the 26-year-old.

The idea is that Nestorovski is a reserve option for them, in case they are unable to sign one of Luis Muriel, Simone Zaza, Leonardo Pavoletti and Mattia Destro.

With Manolo Gabbiadini floundering at the San Paolo and Arek Milik likely to only recover from his ACL tear in Spring, the Scudetto contenders need options up front.

Despite still being onboard a sinking ship, the Macedonian Nestorovski has been in excellent form, nabbing seven Serie A goals and even adding one against Italy, when his country ran the Azzurri close in Skopje, eventually losing 3-2.

Napoli have cast their net far and wide in the search for a striker, with this morning’s papers confirming that they’d also sent a team to London to sound out what West Ham wanted to do with Simone Zaza.

Seeing as Palermo signed Nestorovski for a laughable
    €500.000, they're set for a heck of a payday...
