CM EXCLUSIVE: Miguel Veloso wants Serie A return, Milan in pole position
The Portuguese international wants a return to Italy, as does his wife, Paola, who just so happens to be Genoa owner Enrico Preziosi’s daughter.
Veloso would be a perfect fit in many ways for the Rossoneri: having already played in Italy (for Genoa), the 29–year-old midfielder would inject the quality that has so far been lacking in Milan’s midfield.
With Riccardo Montolivo still recovering from his injury and Nigel de Jong on the fringes and likely to leave in January, the Diavolo desperately needs someone to dictate the tempo in the middle of the park.
Having spent €90 million during the summer transfer window, Adriano Galliani doesn’t want to go crazy in January as well, and someone like Veloso – whose contract with Dyano Kiev runs out in June – should be a win-win deal for both Milan and the Ukrainian side, who would otherwise see Veloso leave for free during the summer.
The Dynamo midfielder has been pressing for a return to Italy, in part because his wife isn’t exactly enthusiastic about living in the Ukraine.
Whilst Genoa may not be able to afford Veloso’s salary – despite the arrival of a new partner to Enrico Preziosi – Milan certainly can, either in January or in June.
