CM EXCLUSIVE Agent: 'Chelsea offered Brozovic more, but money isn't everything'

After a long, protracted negotiation, Marcelo Brozovic has finally earned the contract renewal he’s been angling for.

The Croatian will now earn €2.5 million a season, and Inter added a release clause of €50 million for foreign clubs willing to sign him.

Agent Miroslav Bicanic spoke exclusively to CM about their exciting summer, which included interest from Chelsea and a proposed swap with Stephan Lichtsteiner of Juventus.

“He’s happy to stay, he likes the city and playing for Inter" Bicanic told our correspondent Guglielmo Cannavale, "his new deal will give him more tranquility, he;d like to concentrare more on what goes on on the pitch. Marcelo is doing well in training with the national setup, he's in shape, serene and ready for the new season".

Asked about new Coach Frank De Boer, Bicanic said that “Marcelo respects his new Coach, he’ll do his best to satisfy his ideas. They’ve had little time to get to know each other, but I’m sure that the Mister will know how to use him well and get the most out of him”.

When talk turned to Juventus and Chelsea’s interest, Brozovic’s agent claimed that “Juventus’ interest was real, but Inter simply put a stop to it”.

It turns out that the Bianconeri had even offered Inter a loan swap, with Stephan Lichtsteiner going the other way.

“This shows that Brozovic is on the way to becoming a top player. May clubs were interested in him, but now it’s in the past. He’s focussed only on Inter now. Chelsea? They offered more money, but that isn’t everything to Marcelo.

"He has a challenge awaiting him in the Europa League, and hopes to play in the Champions League next season”.
