Chelsea: Napoli sweat of fitness of Kalidou Koulibaly

Napoli are sweating over the fitness of their star defender Kalidou Koulibaly who was replaced in the first half of today’s away clash to Cagliari with a knee injury. The Senegalese centre-back was accidentally hit at his knee by Cagliari midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis and Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri was forced to replace the solid rock centre defender minutes before the half time whistle.

Koulibaly is a long time target of Premier League giants Chelsea as the Blues made several attempts to sign the 25-year-old defender last summer with several bids that were all rejected by Napoli.

Koulibaly will undergo medical tests tomorrow to understand how long he’ll be forced out of action and if his knee injury involves the cruciate ligament he could be forces to skip the incoming Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.

Koulibaly is one of Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli cornerstones as he has already collected 22 appearances in allo competitions scoring one goal.
