Cassano, a time bomb
Rossonero or rosanero? There may not be room for Antonio Cassano in the Milan of the future. Having dealt with the renewals, Adriano Galliani will sit at the table to resolve the Gattuso situation, who still has a year contract but is tempted by Russia, and especially ‘Pibe di Bari’, which over the weeks has became impatient. The reason is simple, Cassano wants to play with more continuity, he wants to be a leader in the field and get to the Europeans in Ukraine and Poland in the best possible way, probably the last blue window of his career.
In Milan, at the moment, he is the fourth choice after Ibrahimovic, Pato and Robinho, and with Inzaghi back to the launch pad, it is possible that he could slip into last place. In his six months with the Rossoneri he has agreed, with much hard work, to the strict rules of the club and Allegri’s choices, who has often made him start from the bench. Despite his actions on the pitch being well above sufficiency, with major assists (see Robinho at Brescia) and four goals.
In his meeting with Galliani, his agent Bozzo will ask for technical and tactical safeguards. If Cassano will not be part of the Milan project, he will pack up again, with Giovanna, who has never adapted to Milan. Destination Fiorentina, which he was near two years ago, or Palermo (in the negotiations for Pastore?), where he will surely find more space. Milan must defuse the Cassano bomb before the close of the market in order to avoid an explosion on the road to the Champions League, a stated objective for next season.
