Callejon’s release clause lowered: Atletico Madrid interested

The future of Jose Maria Callejon could be in Spain again as, according to El Confidencial¸ the Spaniard lowered his release clause to € 23 million when he signed a contract extension with the club last summer.

Callejon is said to be a long time target of Atletico Madrid. The Colchoneros boss Diego Simeone thinks extremely high of the former Real Madrid winger whose price-tag is now accessible for the LaLiga giants that had refused to meet the previous release clause of the player which was set to € 32 million.

Callejon is Napoli’s best scorer in Serie A this season having netted five in the opening seven games of the league.

The 29-year-old winger has 50 goals and 34 assists in 167 games with Napoli. He moved to the San Paolo in a € 9.5 million deal from Real Madrid in summer 2013.

Callejon has just got a Spain call-up to face Italy and Albania in the World Cup Qualifiers tie.
