Bloomberg insists Pallotta considers selling a minority stake in AS Roma
Talking to Rete Sport, however, the author of the article has insisted that Pallotta is looking for new suitors. “I am sure about what I’ve published; I’ve double checked all the information with my source more than once. We are not saying Pallotta will sell a majority stake, we are saying that he’s considering this opportunity and that he will meet representatives of some banks to talk about that.”
“The club lose money each year and they need fresh cash. I think everything can be bought regardless if it is available on the market or not. If someone who has enough money can do it, then I don’t see why it shouldn’t happen.”
“I know Pallotta will meet three banks here in London next week and I think those meeting will be focused on the financial health of the club as well as on the new stadium. Everyone’s aware that Roma has no main sponsor on their jerseys and those kinds of sponsors usually bring big incomes to the club. I know they will also talk about potential suitors.”
“I don’t know if Pallotta will really sell the club in the end. In my experience, I can say that everything has a price. Football is business and Pallotta saw an opportunity in AS Roma. Pallotta’s background is the one of edge-found: you buy a company, you bring it to certain standards and sell it to make a profit. I don’t know, however, whether this will happen or not.”
