Berlusconi furious at Milan defeat, Di Francesco touted to replace Mihajlovic

Berlusconi furious at Milan defeat, Di Francesco touted to replace Mihajlovic

Silvio Berlusconi's reaction to Milan's defeat to Sassuolo has, predictably, been an angry one. Reported to be absolutely furious not just at the result, but at the Rossoneri's slack performance, the Fininvest owner is allegedly tempted to replace Sinisa Mihajlovic with Eusebio di Francesco.

Berlusconi believes that the squad Mihajlovic inherited is good enough to reach the Champions League, a target that appears to be unlikely, to say the least. He was also angry that Milan were unable to impose themselves in the last fifteen minutes, when Sassuolo had a player sent off.

As if 12 games unbeaten wasn't somehow impressive enough for a team that was the laughing stock of the Top 10 last year.

Berlusconi is enticed by the idea of picking the coach of an Emilian team, someone young, promising and with radical ideas. Ring any bells?

Remember when Sassuolo last visited San Siro, and Silvio Berlusconi chose not to visit his team, but the visitors' dressing room to congratulate Di Francesco? This despite the fact that Milan had won.

Since then, Sinisa's Squad has lost only three times, debuting 160year-old goalkeeper Gigi Donnarumma has become a teenage sensation, and the Rossoneri have found an identity, rocketing up the table and into the European places.

Why, Berlusconi would be a fool NOT to fire Mihajlovic!

The Giornale (a Berlusconi-owned paper) has also published a piece in which Adriano Galliani's complimentary remarks about Di Francesco ("He teaches football") as evidence that Milan will move on at the end of the season. Just to keep the rumour mill going, La Repubblica claims that Di Francesco is also in Lazio's sights to replace Stefano Pioli.

That's odd, as Pioli has also been lined up to replace Giampiero Ventura, whose Torino team he drew with this weekend.
