Barcelona quash Messi departure rumours; "He will finish his career here"
Spanish journal Sport writes that Barcelona chiefs have come out publicly to quash any rumours surrounding Lionel Messi and a possible departure from the Camp Nou. Club Vice-President Manel Arroyo declared to Cadena Ser that; “We are convinced that he will end his career with Barcelona because in recent years he has dragged us to success.
Doubts about the Argentine superstar’s future began to surface a few days ago when Marca claimed the 29-year-old had refused a contract extension last July. The journal also stated that Manchester City, PSG and Juventus were the three clubs most likely to tempt him away from Catalunya. Barcelona however, are not worried and remain certain that Messi would only leave the club towards the end of his career to return to his homeland to join the club where he first came to prominence , Newell’s Old Boys. The fans meanwhile, continue to wait anxiously for news of further developments.
