Bacca, Suso, De Sciglio: the transfer market messes up Montella’s plans
Adriano Galliani is trying to recruit some low-cost profiles that can boost the team’s quality. This transfer window might be his last one in charge of transfer negotiations of AC Milan. Meantime, Montella has to manage a squad which is pretty much the same as last season.
The former Fiorentina and Sampdoria boss urges a new centre-back, a quality midfielder who can help the team straight away (Bentancur is an amazing prospect, but is he ready?) and a new winger who can give more guarantees than Suso in terms of consistency.
The former Genoa ace’s status sums up the whole transfer window of the rossoneri. Everyone believes that he’s starter material for Montella, but the Spaniard would be left free to leave if the rossoneri receive an offer exceeding € 10 million.
The same goes for Mattia De Sciglio. Untouchable on the pitch, gone if any suitor offer somewhere around € 25-30 million, whilst the situation of Carlos Bacca is completely opposite as the Colombian striker had been close to the San Siro exit door for the whole summer, but he could eventually stay at the club for one more season, given that he has refused West Ham’s offer and no Champions League club have made contact so far. Kucka and Honda are also up for sale despite being regular starters with Sinisa Mihajlovic last season.
Who will join AC Milan in the last days of the transfer window? Bentancuror Badelj? Is Cuadrado going to be the last gift of Galliani to AC Milan? Is a new centre-back a priority for the club? We can’t be in Montella’s mind, but we are pretty sure those are questions which the Italian gaffer would be happy to ask the club, meantime he has to make the most of the player he has, one week ahead of his Serie A debut in charge of AC Milan.
