AS Roma track the next David Pizarro

AS Roma have just parted ways with their former director of sport Walter Sabatini and Ricky Massara, who has replaced Mr. Sabatini, is already at work to get some reinforcement in the January transfer window.

With Luciano Spalletti who is short of options in midfield, the Italian tactician’s priority is signing  a centre midfielder as there are no potential replacements for either Kevin Strootman or Daniele De Rossi as former Empoli star Paredes is struggling to get game time at the Olimpico so far this season.

According to today’s edition of Il Corriere dello Sport, AS Roma are tracking Sampdoria playmaker Lucas Torreira, 21, who is impressing with the blucerchiati this term.

The former Pescara ace returned to Sampdoria last summer after a one-year loan spell in Serie B with Massimo Oddo’s side.

Italian media tipped Torreira to become the next David Pizarro, a former player of Roma, Manchester City and Fiorentina as well as one of Luciano Spalletti’s favourite players ever.

    The player's price-tag could be around € 10-12 million.
