AS Roma, Spalletti: ‘Totti is doing what I wanted, Strootman is a machine’

Here’s what AS Roma manager Luciano Spalletti told journalists ahead of tomorrow’s Serie A clash against Chievo.

“It will be difficult to beat them, they have quality and personality.”

“Totti is doing what I wanted. I am happy with his contribution. He’s becoming that kind of figure that I expected.”

“It will be very important to have our fans cheering us on. We used to have nostalgia each time e entered the pitch. It is a pleasure to have them back, when you have a great team and an amazing ‘curva’ everything becomes easier.”

Strootman is a machine, he’s always the same person, regardless what happens around. He always works with the same attitude and intensity. Even when I told him he was out of the Champions League list he said nothing, he remained the same. He put down a top-class performance against Genoa, a performance that one expects from a player like him.”

“It is difficult to say if he’ll start against Chievo, I’ll name the team tomorrow.”

“Finishing third was almost impossible when I arrived here. Players deserve praise and credit for what they did.”

“I am not going to talk about the transfer market until the season is not over, otherwise I’d do what I am asking my players not to do. Everyone is focused on the same objective right now, our next game will be the most important because we can’t waste what we’ve been doing so far. Impossible things can happen sometimes .”
