AS Roma president insists Chelsea target Manolas is not going to leave the club

Chelsea want to sign wantaway AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas. After trying to buy Koulibaly, the Blues are now making a move for the Greek International who is not willing to extend his contract with the giallorossi.

Manolas is reportedly not on good terms with some of his teammates at AS Roma and also Luciano Spalletti has been talking to him for very long time, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. The Italian paper also claims that Kevin Strootman has reprimanded him several times during the preseason training.

AS Roma president James Pallotta, however, insists Manolas won’t be leaving the club this summer: ‘Why on heart should Manolas leave? Juan Jesus and Nacho are two experienced defenders who are going to help us. The team is working very hard for the Champions League play off stage.’

The Serie A side will now offer Manolas a new contract to ward off Chelsea’s interest.
