Ancelotti: too early to coach Italy

Carlo Ancelotti would not take on the Italy job in the near future, according to an interview published in this morning’s Corriere dello Sport. The former Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid, Milan and Juventus coach has been linked with a raft of jobs since being given the brown envelope by Real Madrid this summer.

“I’d only take on the national team in a few years. Not now. It’s not a money problem,” Carletto told the Corriere. Beyond clarifying his position, the former Milan gaffer threw in what looks like an implicit endorsement of Antonio Conte’s current tenure.

“We’ll reach the 2018 World Cup final in Russia.”

The former Juventus and Roma stalwart had further revelations about Milan’s recent attempt at luring him back to the San Siro, where he won two Champions League and a Serie A title with Silvio Berlusconi’s team.

“I had a lot of doubts during the negotiations. That said, they were of a personal nature.

“Galliani certainly told me the truth, as Milan have gone on to spend and acquire some excellent players, just as he promised me”.
