Allegri: "Morata? He plays and I hope he stays at Juve. Lemina, it was the right choice to buy outright"

On the eve of his side’s game against Carpi, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has been speaking at his press conference.

Naturally, the first question was about being crowned champions last Monday. Allegri explained that; “An extraordinary rush started after the defeat to Sassuolo. I could never have imagined that a team could go on a run winning 24 out of the next 25 games. Congratulations to everyone who works for Juve and here in Vinovo and in particular to the eight players who have won all of the last five championships. Now we have to respect the rest of the league and honour every match”.

Asked if the next three league games would be a chance for players to cement their place in the Coppa Italia Final squad, Allegri replied; “I know the worth of my players, they just need to demonstrate that they are fit enough to play in the final”. On the subject of possible experimentation with his defence he stated; “In view of the Coppa Italia Final we make have a look at a defensive four but not from the start of the Carpi game. Against Milan it’s true we will be without Bonucci but we still have Chiellini, Barzagli, Rugani and Evra".

On Friday’s permanent signing of Lemina Allegri declared; “He’s a good player and it’s a pity he has had many injuries. It made sense to buy him outright”.On other transfer market rumours he added that; “There are so many good players both here and in Europe. First we will look to finish the season as strongly as possible; the club are planning the strategy for the summer.”

Up next was his assessment of the extraordinary work being done by Claudio Ranieri at Leicester City, Allegri announced; “Good luck to Ranieri, it’s been an incredible season for him. If they win this year who knows if they can ever do it again”. Asked to explain his highs and lows of the past two seasons he replied; “The high was the Champions League Final, the low was the defeat this season to Sassuolo. Let’s see what the future now brings…”

Finally, on the subject of Morata Allegri replied; “It’s always sad to lose a player but now he is back to his best so we must hope he plays well in the final few games. I hope that he remains at the club”.
