Agent: Inter rejected Marcelino on Sunday

Inter Milan’s recent coaching carousel looks set to end today, with the appointment of Stefano Pioli needing only the club’s official stamp of approval.

The Italian was in a two-horse race with former Villareal Coach Marcelino, whose agent confirmed today that the race ended on Sunday.

“As we known, every negotiation with Inter over Marcelino’s potential Inter takeover ended on Sunday,” Eugenio Botas told FCInterNews.

Marcelino travelled to Milan twice to succeed Frank De Boer, who was sacked as Inter Coach after they lost to Sampdoria nearly nine days ago. The Spaniard looked to have overtaken Pioli kin the running, but he obviously fell short.

Could his agent potentially tell us anything else about the decision?

    Apparently not.

“Out of respect for a great team like Inter and its Coach, we don’t intend to comment on what happened after that”.

Could this a hint at the fact that Marcelino wanted total control at the San Siro?

    Only time will tell…
