African Player of the Year Nominees: No Salah, are you serious?
Rather bizzarrely, Fiorentina and Roma star Mohamed Salah isn't on the list.
Along with Aymen Abdennour, Sofiane Feghouli (Valencia), Mudather "Careca" El Tahir (Al Hilal) and Serge Aurier (PSG), Salah has falled short of the rather EPL-heavy list.
Here are the lucky five:
Andre Ayew (Swansea)
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund)
Yacine Brahimi (Porto)
Sadio Mane (Southampton)
Yaya Toure (Manchester City)
Quite how Sadio Mane, Ayew or even Yaya Toure are considered to have done better than Salah is frankly beyond me. Salah has 11 goals in the calendar year, despite moving clubs twice and being involved in a controversial dispute between Fiorentina, Chelsea and Inter.
The Egyptian international really hit the ground running when arriving in Italy, scoring six goals in his first seven games with the Viola after crossing the continent on loan from Chelsea. This included a stunning brace on the road agaisnt Juventus in Europa League action.
Meanwhile, Salah loooks set to miss at least another three weeks after nearly having his left amputated by Sehad Lulic in the Rome Derby.
