Wayne Rooney on verge of Everton return on a two-year deal

Everton are on the verge of signing their former star player Wayne Rooney from Manchester United, reports local news outlet The Liverpool Echo.

On Friday a deal was agreed between the two parties, meaning there is only formalities to wrap up and finalise.

The contract, it is thought, will be a two-year-deal and a deal to become the club’s highest earner, with a pay packet of £150,000 a week to mark a sensational return to Goodison Park – where his boyhood club play.

The move is supposed to have made a degree of leverage for Europa League champions Man United – where Rooney is the all-time top scorer.

The have just beaten off competition from Premier League winners Chelsea to their number one target, despite the two clubs reportedly having matching offers on the table for the 24-year-old.

But, by having Rooney and a connection with an agent with The Toffees, the Red Devils have beaten the West London club to their man.
