Everton in new £45M move for Icelandic star
Everton’s quest for Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson continues as boss Ronald Koeman looks to continue his summer spending. The Dutch tactician is reshaping his side ahead of the new campaign and the 27-year-old Icelandic ace is now top of his wish-list.
Reports in The Express this morning claim that The Toffees are to up their offer for the player to £45M in an attempt to get the Welsh side to part with their star player. According to the journal, it’s Koeman’s intentions to make Sigurdsson his new number 10 in place of Ross Barkley who looks set to leave Goodison Park.
Swansea City are reluctant to part with their player but are understood to be ready to accept this new offer which could contain a further £5M in bonus payments. Their initial demand was £50M and the clubs owners, Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien recently declared that; "We will not be bullied or forced into a decision until a club meets our valuation of the player, no matter whether they believe they have an agreement with the player.
