Lazio president Lotito to educate young fans about the Holocaust

SS Lazio president Claudio Lotito has pledged to bring 200 young Lazali to Auschwitz concentration camp each year to raise awareness of the Holocaust. The pledge comes days after Lazio fans were found to be posting images of Anne Frank wearing an AS Roma shirt in the Roma supporters section. The anti-Semitic incident is just another in a long history of such from a small, but vocal, portion of Lazio fans.

Lotito made the pledge while visiting a Roman synagogue with Felipe Anderson and Wallace on Tuesday. “Today we are here to testify once again about our total dissociation from all forms of racism and anti-Semitism,” said the club president. “I am announcing that Lazio will launch an initiative involving 200 young Bianco-Celeste fans: every year we will organize visits to the concentration camps of Auschwitz to raise young people's awareness of these issues.”

He went on to distance himself from Lazio’s infamous reputation. “Since I'm president, there have never been any banners or attitudes that could identify the fans as racist, anti-Semitic or xenophobic.” He also pledged to support law enforcement in any way possible. “We will help investigators, using our cameras to locate the ringleaders.”
